Hans Kreisel, chief executive of the newly founded gas infrastructure group Swedegas/Weum, will take over as CEO of the two subsidiaries in August 2019. As a result, the current chief executive of Swedegas, Johan Zettergren, has decided to leave the company. Kenneth Andersson, at present chief executive of Weum, will become interim Chief Financial Officer for the group.
“During his time as CEO of Swedegas, Johan Zettergren has demonstrated considerable commitment and he has proved to be a potent driving force behind the development of the company’s sustainability programme and market offerings. We would like to thank Johan for his extremely valuable contribution and succesful results,” said Hans Kreisel. “These are areas that we will continue to focus on in our endeavour to contribute to a successful transition to more environmentally friendly energy solutions”.
Swedegas and Weum (previously E.ON Gas) own and operate the gas transmission infrastructure in south-west Sweden. Customers include industrial enterprises, the transport sector, domestic users and restaurants. The two companies are working actively to increase the proportion of renewable gas in the system and, in line with Swedish climate policy objectives, to eliminate fossil fuel use. At present the proportion of biogas is in excess of 20 per cent and increasing steadily.
First State Investments, via its infrastructure fund European Infrastructure Diversified Fund II, acquired both Swedegas and Weum in 2018. Hans Kreisel, formerly CEO of Skellefteå Kraft, was appointed as group chief executive on April 1, 2019. He is also chair of the European trade association for independent distribution companies of gas and electricity, GEODE.
